For the first time in years, the Orlando Magic may be on the verge of having a strong run in the NBA playoffs.
Only a few seasons ago, this seemed beyond unlikely but 2023-24 has been very good to the Magic.
As the team battles through the last few games in the hope of claiming a home-court advantage, Magic star Paolo Banchero spoke with Jake Fischer about how the team has found such success this year.
“Understanding that it starts with me, it starts with Franz [Wagner],” Banchero said.
“Just everyone understanding their role and how important their role is,” he added.
The Magic are fighting for homecourt in the playoffs because they’ve found hierarchy.

It’s undeniable that Banchero is the most important player in Orlando, averaging 22.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
But he’s not the only reason the Magic have been performing so well this season.
Franz Wanger, Jalen Suggs, and Cole Anthony are just a few of the other players who have been propelling the team toward the top of the Eastern Conference.
The Magic have been a youthful and promising group for years, but now they are finally capitalizing and delivering on all that youth and promise.
They are now the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference, holding a 46-34 record.
Ahead of them by just one game are the Cleveland Cavaliers in the fourth seed.
But if the Magic storm through their last couple of games, they can steal the fourth spot in the East and claim home-court advantage in the opening round.
No matter what happens in the weeks ahead, Orlando has proven a lot this year.
Through Banchero’s leadership and skills, he has helped the team reach their next level and the future looks truly magical.
