The Orlando Magic are a young team, but they’re far ahead of schedule.
It’s crazy to see that not many talked about the fact that Paolo Banchero led them to the playoffs in just his second season in the league, and their future looks very bright.
That’s why they might have no use for older players, or at least not in their current deals.
Considering that, it wasn’t much of a surprise to see them decline Joe Ingles’ player option for next season.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the player option was worth $11 million.

Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean the Australian forward’s days in Florida are over, as both parties will reportedly work together to get a new deal.
Ingles will be entering his 11th season in the league.
He’s no longer a difference-maker on the court like he was during his days with the Utah Jazz.
Still, he’s a cerebral player and a beloved and respected veteran, so it makes sense for the Magic to keep a player like him around and in a young locker room.
The Magic have more than enough money to spend in free agency, but they will obviously prioritize players who could contribute to their playoff success.
According to most reports, they’re going to make Klay Thompson their primary target.
And with him reportedly set to walk away from the Golden State Warriors after spending his entire career with that organization, the Magic are getting ready to make him a Godfather-like offer to lure him to Florida.
