Last season, Wagner averaged 19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on a 48.2% field goal percentage.
Wagner is one of the most exciting up-and-coming stars in the league.
At 22 years old, the forward has many seasons ahead of him and the Magic want to be a part of his career for the foreseeable future.
Wagner is just one of many young superstars playing in Orlando.
This deal proves that the Magic really think he could be the future of the team and the league for years to come.
The only question is how they can retain Wagner and the other youthful players on the roster.
This is a gigantic contract for Wagner and it raises doubts about them being able to offer enough to others such as Cole Anthony, Jalen Suggs, Mo Wagner, and others.
And, of course, the Magic want to hold onto Paolo Banchero, their team leader.
Many people predicted that Orlando would give a lot to keep Wagner on the roster but some didn’t expect a max contract like this.
Will this end up being the right move for the team?
They had their best season in years in 2023-24, earning the fifth spot in the East with a 47-35 record.
If they can build upon that next season, this extension for Wagner will look like a great move.
